Creative Engagement is a central research theme at the Innovation School. We believe that creativity can support the individuals, communities and organisations we collaborate with to explore and critically engage with social and cultural innovation challenges. Developing design-led approaches to Creative Engagement enables our researchers and students to gather meaningful and authentic insights, and enriches collaboration. Participation is a transformative and empowering experience, where collaborators are supported to explore and express abstract, experiential, and tacit concepts such as identity, values, discourse, and social and cultural practices. Our work in Creative Engagement spans a diverse range of local, national and international contexts, with a focus in the areas of craft and heritage, community development, youth engagement and creative education.
